I went with a short barrel, five-round tube, forward-mounted white light, and a sling. It’s stored in a quick-access spot and I trained on it with my spouse. Once everyone in the house can run it confidently and knows where it is, then it’s a setup. Until then, it’s just storage.
 
That last line nails it, gear’s easy but training everyone up is what actually turns it into a real setup.
 
A shotgun isn’t ready until everyone is. You didn’t set up hardware, you built a plan that works.
 
Setting something up properly really means training everyone who might need to use it. The gear doesn’t do much if the people in the house aren’t comfortable handling it when it counts.
