Mounting height

When it comes to running an optic on a duty or defensive firearm, what dot size and mounting height have you found to be the most reliable over time? Are you still using iron sights in your sight picture, or have you switched to an optic-only setup? Please include your firearm model, the optic you selected, the type of plate or mount system, and any backup sights you have, so others can see what’s been effective for you.

I’m running a Holosun 509T (2 MOA) on my M&P 2.0 attached to a C&H Precision plate. It’s configured for a lower third co-witness with Dawson Precision irons. I started out co-witnessing both but now I’m about 95% on the optic. The irons are just there for backup just in case!
