I found a pre-64 Model 70 in .270 for $600 because the seller didn't know what he had. It was marked as just 'old Winchester rifle.' I sprinted to the ATM. Those deals are rare and require knowledge and luck in equal measure. Five years later I still can't believe it..

Deals like these are why I still stroll through gun shows. I once saw a guy sell an old revolver cheap because its finish was rough, but underneath it was mechanically flawless. Those finds are hard to beat.
