Confused with my ARs....

I've got a 5.56 AR and a 7.62x39 AR at home. I'm trying to figure out which one I should use for home defense and which one’s better for just heading to the range and shooting targets. Any thoughts?

If I were in your shoes (and I totally can relate), I’d have that 5.56 ready for home defense while letting the 7.62x39 have some fun at the range. You've got an awesome setup here, it really comes down to using the right tool for the job.

Seeing friends at the range enjoying both. The 7.62 may not penetrate your walls as much in a home defense situation...

When it comes to home defense, I’d definitely use the 5.56. It’s the one I’ve spent the most time practicing with, and I find it much easier to handle indoors. Plus, it just feels more reliable overall. With quicker follow-ups, less muzzle rise, and a ton of solid defensive ammo options, it’s a no-brainer for me. On the other hand, the 7.62×39 is more of my “fun and practical range gun.” It’s not that it can’t be used for defense, I just don’t think it performs as well as the 5.56 in that role.
