Carbine or mid-length?

Are we seeing mid-length gas take over as the new norm for 16" ARs, or do people still favor carbine setups for certain situations?

When it comes to 16" barrels, mid-length gas systems have really taken the lead among builders. Carbine gas isn't completely obsolete though. Many still use it for its common parts or budget-friendly options. But the clear trend is towards mid-length systems.
